Relief

I had a scare today, I’ll spare you the details but I had to see the doctor right away. During the checkup, the doctor calmly went through the possibilities of what could be happening to me and the baby while Andy and I silently freaked out. The doctor said she would try to hear the baby's heartbeat even though it might be too early to detect one. It worked! Whoa. Now that was a moment, not only of relief but also of realization that there is life in me. Yeah, whoa.

It was followed up by an ultrasound where we saw it fluttering around, I guess it is an active little thing. We left the hospital in a state of stunned elation.
